China is trembling all over. According to Canadian magazine L’Actualité, the diver from Quebec is the only mortal creature that the Olympic hopeful Chinese actually fear.
23-year-old Alexandre Despatie has a long, awe-inspiring, winning streak, with a silver medal at the Athens Olympics in 2004, 2 gold medals at the World Aquatic Championships in Montreal in 2005 and 2 silver medals at the Melbourne World Aquatic Championships in 2007. The springboard star sure knows how to flex his legs — recently elected Most Beautiful Legs of Canada!
The Quebec idol faced the biggest challenge of his career after breaking his foot in April, four months before the Olympics. But after an intense and grueling rehab process, three judges gave him the thumbs-up at a formal evaluation on July 10th. In Beijing, he will compete on 3m springboard and 3m synchronized with his usual partner Arturo Miranda. And he is expected to give the mighty Chinese a good run for their Yuan.
