Joe Oppedisano’s “Athletes 2009″ wall calendar was too much on the vanilla side for your taste? The famed gay photographer heard you, and is now releasing “Knockout 2009″, still in the spirit of French calendar “Dieux du Stade”, but with seven seriously rough and tough guys, including authentic mixed martial arts fighters.
It all began when Joe met 30-year-old full contact specialist Tyler Peterson at his gym. When he approached him about doing a shoot, Tyler said: “If you think I’m hot, you have to see my brother. He’s 22 and just got back from Iraq.” That’s how Tyler and Luke, both genuine wrestlers, boxers and jujitsu masters, ended up being the stars of the collection — and of the behind-the-scenes DVD filmed by Tony Sellaris at Gleason’s Gym, Brooklyn. The DVD also features the music of producer Bill Coleman and gay rapper Cazwell.
And what do the two brothers do when they stop kicking and wrestling? They kill time shaving each other’s head. Awww!
