A shirtless Rafael Nadal graces the cover of the fall fashion issue of New York Magazine. The back cover, actually — for whatever reason, they thought Christie Brinkley and her demented hairdo were more appropriate for the front.
Last Sunday, Nadal won the first gold medal — ever — for Spain in Olympic tennis. And since he’s won all but one of his past 39 matches and claimed victory over Roger Federer at both Wimbledon and the French Open, the Spanish superman is now officially the world’s new Número Uno.
Out goes King Federer and his four years of Swiss precision, cashmere cardigans, white blazers and Anna Wintour-sponsored parties. In comes the far less conservative Majorcan pirate, with his sleeveless tops, capri-like pants and bandannas, that look great on him only because he’s got all the right muscles in all the right places — and he likes to show them off.
