As you know, French soccer legend Bixente Lizarazu was lucky enough to join the Guénot brothers for wrestling practice during the games. His job as sports consultant and Beijing Olympics correspondent for French TV network Canal Plus gave him the opportunity to train with many other athletes. He said that he kept the fondest memory of his session with the French gymnastics team, and showed a short of video segment of him training with gymnast Benoît Caranobe — who won the highly prized all-around bronze medal — and his coach Laurent Barbieri.
But the best part of last Saturday’s “Beijing Soir” was when the whole staff of the show awarded Bixente Lizarazu the Gold Medal of Shirtlessness — notwithstanding Matthew McConaughey went quadruple-platinum on the discipline eons ago. They aired a montage of his best Beijing stripping and crotch-grabbing moments, with Diana Ross’ ”Love Hangover” playing as the soundtrack.
Bixente then tried to justify himself: “It’s my exhibitionist side. I spent eight years and a half in Germany, a country where everybody gets naked to have a sauna. That’s why I’m like that!”
“Now we know why he spent most of his career at Bayern Munich!” concluded the host of the Canal Plus show.
