Don’t worry too much about Shia looking all bruised, burnt and bloodied in our gallery, there are make-up effects at work here. The actor is currently filming “Transformers II: The Revenge of the Fallen” in LA, the new Michael Bay blockbuster, due for release on June 26, 2009. Shia reprises the role of Sam Witwicky, the poor guy caught in the war between the autobots and the decepticons.
There’s no high-tech wizardry involved in the bandaged hand, though. The star was recently involved in a weekend car crash in which he was cited for a misdemeanor DUI. DreamWorks/Paramount had to tweak the shooting schedule around the star’s recovery from major hand surgery, and write into the script a hand injury for Sam, his character.
“He’s only 22,” said Michael Bay, seemingly unphased by the contretemps. “He’s doing a great job on this movie. He’s really matured since the last one, and I love working with him.”
