Lucien Thomkins was the hero of Neil Barrett’s sub-label Blackbarrett spring-summer campaign. Staten Island native Alan Carey is the main seaman of ‘Trawlermen’, the fall-winter campaign and second chapter of Blackbarrett, shot by Milan Vukmirovic, photography honcho at L’Officiel Hommes.

The theme comes from a world where seamen work risking their lives, explains the designer’s website. The collection features such maritime-inspired details as ropes, reflective strips, block check and toggles.

Before he started fishing for Mr Barrett, Alan Carey walked — exclusively — for Calvin Klein — during the last Milan Fashion Week. He also featured in Dazed & Confused last March. The 18-year-old was spotted by his agent while he was walking to Duane Reade with his friends, and his ethnic origin is a complex 5/8 Irish, 1/8 English, 1/8 Dutch and 1/8 German. Blond was inevitable.
