Los Angeles-based photographer Mark Henderson is well-versed in the history of Northern and Southern European painting of the 17th century, hence his obvious interest in expressive colors and the chiaroscuro effects that were all the rage during the baroque period.
Though he has occasionally picked remote outdoor locations for his shootings, Mark often prefers the tranquil, relaxed atmosphere of his own home in L.A., where he can more easily — and privately — idolize his muscular models. Household Idols epitomizes this attitude, with dozens of perfect bodies standing or lounging in every room, against digitally enhanced but still perfectly homey backdrops.
The 160-page full-color hardcover phototobook was just published in Europe by Bruno Gmünder, and will be released stateside in December 2008.
You’ll find another shot of Marcus (above) in the gallery, along with two other beefy models.
