In Rio de Janeiro, sunbathing has been elevated to an art-form, and it’s no wonder that the city is now reinventing itself as the swimwear capital of the world. From November 5 to 8, ‘Claro Rio Summer’, a new swim and beachwear extravaganza underwritten by Brazilian media mogul Nizan Guanaes, showcased seventeen key Brazilian designer labels, unveiling the newest swimwear looks for next spring and summer. “The Brazilian market is number one in beachwear consumption in the world,” said Guanaes. “It trades approximately $1.5 billion USD, which represents approximately 15% of the national textile industry.”
Some of the hottest Brazilian males models walked on the catwalk laid over cobblestones at the historic Copacabana military fort — which overlooks the world-famous beach of the same name — including Carlos Freire (below, right) (for Blue Man), Cristhian Rosa (for Carlos Miele), Rodrigo Calazans (above) and Ramirez Allender (for Adriana Degreas). Head on to the gallery for more.
