Commissionned by Italian Vogue and inspired by dogging — a popular sex craze in the UK involving couples, single men and single women who meet at car parks, rest areas, woodlands and other outdoor locations to have sex –, Steven Meisel’s latest shoot was eventually rejected by the fashion magazine. They deemed the photos too explicit. The edit will however appear in the next issue of V magazine.
While we — and Madonna before us — always knew that kinky softcore pornography was always more acceptable than plain nudity in the US of A, the world would definitely be a better place if the reverse wasn’t slowly becoming the norm in Europe.
