Following George Clooney in 2006 and Matt Damon in 2007, 40-year-old Australian actor Hugh Jackman was named Sexiest Man Alive 2008 by People. X-Men’s Wolverine is described as a muscular romantic who sings ballads at home and makes pancakes for kids — everybody say Awww! Hugh Jackman also covers Italian Vanity Fair (above), looking even sexier than in the People portfolio — must be the Italian atmosphere.
Other mature contenders included 40-year-old Daniel Craig (Quantum of Solace), 44-year-old Blair Underwood (Dirty Sexy Money) and soccer star David Beckham, 33. The younger crowd was mainly represented by 21-year-old Zac Efron (HSM III), 22-year-old Robert Pattinson (Twilight), 27-year-old Robert Buckley (Lipstick Jungle), 30-year-old Joshua Jackson (Fringe), 21-year-old Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl) and swimming legend Michael Phelps, 23.
