Janine Gordon is a multimedia artist based in Brooklyn, New York, and a k a ‘Jah Jah’, a rap artist oscillating between both the art and the music scene. Earlier this month, her ‘Mosh Pits’ series (above) were exhibited in Zurich under the title Destructive Forces. Gordon’s pet subjects are aggression, rebellion and men.
Mosh pit, for instance, comes from the term moshing, which is also referred to as slam dancing, an indigenous dance aligned with punk hardcore, hard rock music and some cross breeds of hip hop — occurring in an almost gladiator-like free-style circular pit allowing for people to kick, fly, dance, punch, surf, chicken fight or stand on one’s head surrounded by a sea of bodies guiding the motion of the energy.
Gordon has also been meeting dirt bike jumps enthusiasts, and only through an inner circle has she been able to access their arena. Having always been fascinated by fighting sports, she made a lot of fighter friends, and snapped most of her fight shots while working out at Gleason’s in Brooklyn. She also got the whole wrestling theme wrapped up in a few stunning shots (below).
Hit the gallery for a massive testosterone shot administered by this truly unique artist, including great erotic portraits of her male friends and some mesmerizing tattoos.
