Ignacio Lozano was born in Valencia, Spain, but lives and works in New York. As an artist, his primary medium is painting, but he’s also a keen photographer. Roots obviously matter to him: I always defend Spain there where I go, I’m Spanish and it is how i feel. The roots always are where you were born, like a tree — you can cut the tree and get the trunk, branches and leaves, but if you don’t do a big effort you’re never gonna get the roots.

So does sex, as illustrated by the ‘Lover Boys’ collected on his blog — where Ignacio calls himself ‘Black Sheep Boy’. And if his entries can be at times mysterious and confusing, most of them are sensual and vibrant, like this recent one featuring a series of self-portraits.

We like the motorbike helmet, the cinematic picture in the background, the Justus Boyz jockstrap and the attitude. Yes, smitten we are.
