Didier Drogba's Coin Toss

Soccer sensation Didier Drogba has been given a three-match ban by the Football Association after admitting a charge of violent conduct, namely throwing a coin back into the Burnley crowd after scoring in Chelsea’s Carling Cup fourth-round defeat on November 12. Burnley fans threw coins at Drogba after he scored for Chelsea, and the Ivory Coast international responded by picking one up and hurling it towards the supporters. In an interview with Sport Magazine this week, Drogba complains that English and foreign players are not treated equally by the UK media.

“This is something I want to make clear. I tried to celebrate the goal and I received some things at me,” he said after the incident. “The big mistake I did was to throw it back so if someone was hurt I just want to apologize for it. This is not something I should show in a football match and I want to apologise. It was an incident in the heat of the moment and I regret it. It was just a mistake and nothing more.” But the British press has been all over him ever since.

Also in Sport Magazine, sports celebrities do their Christmas shopping. As could be expected, the ‘Fashion Victim’ list belongs to Cristiano Ronaldo, the ‘Bling Bling’ one to Djibril Cissé, and Kelly Slater goes ‘Freestyle’.
