While it’s not quite the storm it was last summer, the media frenzy around Matthew Mitcham is still going strong, and he just landed his second Advocate cover. Inside the magazine, TDG — everybody in Australia knows him as ‘that diving guy’ or TDG — answers a few questions, and strikes acrobatic poses for photographer Adam Pretty.

Mitcham is very serious about building on his Olympic victory: “I don’t want to be just a one-minute wonder,” he tells The Advocate. “I do want to continue being the best, so that when [people] think back, there will be no doubt in their minds that Matthew Mitcham was the best diver of his time.”

But surprisingly enough, TDG is still looking for a sponsor. The Advocate seems to think that his gay icon status may have hurt his chances at a major paid endorsement. Eamon Sullivan & Stephanie Rice looking so 1996 should have the opposite effect though.

The Advocate
