Javier Beltrán stars in Little Ashes, covers Out Magazine

The April issue of Out Magazine delivers an interview of 27-year-old Spanish actor Javier Beltrán, along with a beautiful series of portraits by Xevi Muntané.

Beltrán will be starring this summer in Little Ashes, a Paul Morrison movie focused on the student life of Spanish poet and martyr Federico García Lorca, his pivotal years at the Residencia de Estudiantes in Madrid, where he met fellow students Salvador Dalí and Luis Buñuel. A one-way love affair developed between Lorca and Dalí. ”If you read Lorca’s poems, you can see he loves Dalí,” explains Beltrán, “but I don’t know if Dalí really loved Lorca.”

About the sex scenes, Beltrán tells Out: “We didn’t have any problems with the sexuality. On the set it was less important than the emotions. The sex scenes are beautiful – tragic and painful.” But that’s in sharp contrast to what Robert Pattinson — who plays Dalí – says in GQ: “And here I am, with Javier, who plays Lorca, doing an extremely hard-core sex scene, where I have a nervous breakdown afterward. And because we’re both straight, what we were doing seemed kind of ridiculous. Trying to do it doggie-style. Trying to have a nervous breakdown while doing it doggie-style. And it wasn’t even a closed set. There were all these Spanish electricians giggling to themselves.”

Well, one of these two is probably a little more in touch with his inner slut than the other.

Also in this issue, a fashion edit by Joshua Jordan featuring this great shot of Travis Hanson [below].
