Gaspard Ulliel covers Dazed & Confused, but saying that the English magazine is all over the 25-year-old French actor would be more accurate. Ulliel bumped his hunk factor one notch or two since his Mixte interview. Jacques Le Croquant director Laurent Boutonnat asked him to bulk up at the gym before assuming the lead, and he also had to put on more muscle in Cambodia for his role in The Sea Wall, “because the character I played was really wild and mannish… and I decided to keep them,” he tells Dazed & Confused.

The Vintner’s Luck is Ulliel’s latest English-language feature, and will be released this summer. The Niki Caro-directed movie tells the story of an angel who craves earthly pleasures, just like the winemaker he’s guarding: “[...] this angel is a bit different from a classical angel, he’s more human. He is both evil and angel at the same time. It’s metaphorically the idea of learning how to live — the idea that you need to experience the evil side at the same time as the angelic side to live fully.” Well, we’re down with that. And Solve Sundsbo shot the portraits for the interview.
