Robin Söderling ended the perfect Roland Garros record of the formerly invicible Rafael Nadal, beating the top-ranked Spaniard in four sets and handing him his first loss in 32 matches. He also kept the Spaniard from bettering Björn Borg’s streak of four straight French Open titles — Borg even kudoed his fellow Swede via text message. Söderling will now meet Swiss Roger Federer in Sunday’s final at Roland Garros — and if chest hair matters at all, Federer should win.

Meanwhile in Sardinia, Italy Cristiano Ronaldo is resting, wearing the kind of blinding shorts he’d love to wear on the field but was never allowed to. There must be at least a dozen rules against those.
