A fixture of New York City’s Time Square, Robert Burck a k a The Naked Cowboy just announced that he will run for mayor of the Big Apple. “I’ve basically created a global brand with just some tighty-whities and hard work, so imagine what I can do when I’m backed by all the wonderful people and resources of the greatest city on earth?” wrote the 38-year-old in The Huffington Post. “My campaign is based on one simple truth — no one’s done more with less than me — and that’s the kind of thinking I’ll be delivering as mayor. And I’m not going to be the kind of politician who’s shuttled around in a limo all day — I’m going to keep doing my thing, engaging with folks from all walks of life and really listening to them.”
Burck’s promises of new ideas on tax breaks, tourism, gay marriage, transit and homeland security are certainly not enough to have Mayor Bloomberg shaking in his boots — but everything could change between now and November 3rd, should the Naked Cowboy go all rad on us and start campaigning in less than his trademark white undies.
