If you’re lucky enough to be in Sydney on October 3rd, here is your chance to join the city’s second major gay & lesbian event of the year — after Mardi Gras — the Sleaze Ball, a long-running annual gay dance party and Sydney institution. While Mardi Gras Party is all wonder, celebration and light, the Sleaze Ball is darker and edgier. There’s room for everything from high camp to S&M, as long as it’s sleazy — it’s also the great dress-up night of the year; an opportunity for all to flex their creative muscles.

Melbourne photographic duo Travis de Jonk and Ross Brownsdon did flex theirs for the event’s promotional campaign (images published by Bad Behaviour Publishing), and the result is a steamy take on this year’s Game On theme. De Jonk and Brownsdon’s sexy Bad Behaviour calendar caught the attention of Sleaze Ball organizers. But “it has ruffled a few feathers,” according to de Jonk. “I know just from speaking with the people I’ve been involved with at Mardi Gras that there have been a few questions along the lines of ‘Why are you using these two guys from Melbourne?’ I’m as shocked as anybody, because Sydney does have some amazing talent. But I think it’s really nice, even if we hadn’t gotten the job, that the work would have stayed in Australia.”

I can’t wait! This year will mark my first Sleaze Ball ever! I’m still deciding what to wear but I’m sure it’s going to be a blast!
